Yale Orthopaedic Trauma Service

Yale-New Haven Medical Center is a nationally recognized Level I Trauma Center. Most complex trauma occurring in southern Connecticut is triaged to Yale, and the institution serves as a tertiary referral center post-traumatic reconstruction for southern New England. The Orthopaedic Trauma Service is lead by Michael R. Baumgaertner, M.D., FACS and is comprehensively supported by numerous orthopaedic and surgical subspecialties.

Special treatments are available for:

• Complex fractures of the upper and lower extremity
• Knee dislocations
• Intra-articular fractures
• Spine trauma
• Fracture nonunions
• Post-traumatic deformity and arthritis
• Pelvic & acetabular fracture care
• Poly traumatized patients
• Minimally invasive fracture stabilization
• Arthroscopically assisted fracture care
• Joint dislocation & ligamentious injuries
